Southern Light's Pastor Spot
These 60 second spots are a free service provided for pastors and churches in the Southern Light listening area. They’re designed to afford listeners, who may be church hunting, an opportunity to hear about Bible preaching churches near them.
They’ll be broadcast on a rotating basis, so your spot will air at various times and on various days, providing your church with maximized exposure to our audience.
Although we prefer to have you come to our studios to record them, if you have high quality recording equipment available to you, you may record it elsewhere and send the audio to us on CD or cassette, or e-mail it to us as an mp3 file. Whether you come to us or record at other facilities, please follow the guidelines and suggestions provided below.
Guidelines for Preparing Your Spot
We recommend that you use notes or a script during the recording. Plan to keep the length of your recording between 50 and 55 seconds. Practice doing it and time it during those practices.
Identify yourself and your church first. Tell listeners about your church. Location, service times, and a phone number are essential information. Give them information that will provide insight into the personality of your ministry: a theme Scripture verse, a description of your church’s vision, an area of ministry emphasis, etc. Invite them to visit.
If you use a script, be sure to word it in a way that makes it sound conversational. For example, we tend to use contractions when we speak as opposed to when we write. Don’t say: “I am Pastor Mike Jones.” Say: “I’m Pastor Mike Jones.”
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us.
